The 2021 PHC counted and collected detailed information on all persons that spent the Census Night, 27th June, in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality.
The 2021 Population and Housing Census began officially with listing of all structures in the Municipality from Sunday, the 13th of June 2021. The listing phase lasted two weeks and ended on 26th June, 2021. The night after listing, which was Sunday, 27th of June 2021 was marked Census Night which served as a statistical reference point to the census upon which all enumeration related to.
Different groups of population were enumerated on the Census Night. This included people in transit that night, those who spent the night in hotels, those who spent the night in hospital wards, among others. Various activities were carried out in different communities to mark the night. Enumeration of all other population groups excluding the ones mentioned above commenced on the 28th of June, and was expected to end on the 11th of July 2021 but got extended due to certain factors.
The Statistics Department of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the District Census Officer and the Regional Statistician worked assiduously to ensure the success of the census in the Municipality.
