The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly (SWMA) has held a Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) meeting aimed at strengthening the quality and oversight of education delivery in the municipality. The meeting took place at the Municipal Assembly Hall and was chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The session brought together all members of the Municipal Education Oversight Committee. Discussions centered on critical issues affecting the educational sector in the municipality.

Stakeholders reviewed recent BECE results and discussed strategies to improve performance in future examinations, with emphasis on supervision, teaching quality, and student preparation.

The Committee acknowledged the pressing need for additional classroom blocks, furniture, and educational resources in underserved communities, and called for urgent intervention from both the government and development partners.

Members also highlighted the vital role of community involvement in the success of local schools and agreed to intensify sensitization efforts to encourage parental engagement and support for school initiatives.

The issue of examination malpractice was extensively discussed. Participants proposed stricter supervision and community awareness campaigns to curb the menace and uphold the integrity of the education system.

In his closing remarks, the MCE commended stakeholders for their commitment and reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to promoting quality education across the municipality. The meeting concluded with a call for continuous collaboration among all education partners to achieve sustainable educational development in Sefwi Wiawso.
