SWMA HOSTS ZONE 2 COMPOSITE BUDGET HEARING IN THE WESTERN NORTH REGION

The 2024 Regional Budget Hearing took place on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the Assembly Hall in Sefwi Wiawso Municipal, with active participation from three other District Assemblies, including Bibiani, Bia West, and Bia East.

Budget Hearings have been established as a crucial component of the Budget Management Process, where the revenues and expenditure estimates of the Assemblies are subjected to open discussions and thorough examination.

This Hearing was organized as part of the 2024-2027 Composite Budget Preparation, with the primary objective of affording the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) the opportunity to scrutinize and guide the Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs). The aim is to ensure that budget allocations align with the objectives and strategies of government policies and programs, following the 2024-2027 Budget Guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Finance.

In his welcoming address, the Regional Chief Director, Mr. Ebenezer Amoah, extended a warm welcome to all Municipal and District Chief Executives and their entourages, expressing his excitement at hosting them in the Regional Capital, Sefwi Wiawso Assembly.

Mr. Ebenezer Amoah emphasized that the focal point of this year's hearing was the 2023 budget. This involved a comprehensive assessment of budgeted income and expenditures, comparing them to the actual figures to ascertain whether various targets had been met. If not, discussions revolved around how to meet those targets.

Furthermore, the event aimed to shed light on strategies for generating revenue and managing expenses during the fiscal year 2024.

The 2024 Regional Budget Hearing serves as a vital forum for ensuring fiscal responsibility, accountability, and alignment with government objectives, ultimately contributing to the effective management of finances.
