SWMA MEETS STAKEHOLDERS ON ON-GOING UDG I&II PROJECTS UNDER THE GHANA SECONDARY CITIES SUPPORT


The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly held stakeholders consultative meeting in accordance with the Environmental and Social Safeguard guidelines of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme which requires beneficiary Municipal Assemblies to ensure effective stakeholders’ participation in the implementation of the programme.


The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Joseph K. Baah Darkoh welcomed all participants and thanked them for honoring the invitation for the meeting. He urged the participants to actively participate in all discussion relating to the implementation of UDG I& II projects under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP) at Sefwi Dwinase Market.


Mr. Louis Aggrey, the Municipal Planning Officer called on the Municipal Coordinating Director to explain the purpose of the meeting. Mr. Joseph K. Baah-Darkoh, the Municipal Coordinating Director explained that the meeting was to deliberate on the implementation of Urban Development Grant (UDG I&II) projects under the Ghana Secondary Cites Support Programme at Sefwi Dwinase Market. According to the MCD, the agenda of the meeting was on the following issues;



v Discussion of the commencement of Urban Development Grant (UDG II) physical projects at Sefwi Dwinase Market.

v Discussion of the relocation of Project Affected Persons under Urban Development Grant (UDG II) projects.


Mr. Louis Aggrey, the Municipal Planning Officer of Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly gave a brief presentation on the commencement of UDG II projects under GSCSP. According to the MPO, the UDG II projects are made up of the following;

v Lot 1: Construction of 120-units market Stalls and Earth Works at Dwinase Market to be completed in 9 months.

v Lot 2: Construction of 20-Units Lockable Stores and 40-Units Market Stalls at Dwinase Market to be completed in 9 months.
