In a devastating incident, a fierce fire broke out, engulfing some stores located around the Sefwi Dwinase Market on 28th February, 2023 at around 8:30pm. The fire rapidly spread, causing extensive damage to the affected stores and sparking panic among local residents.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started in one of the stores within close proximity to the market. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but initial reports suggest that it may have been triggered by an electrical fault
The incident prompted an immediate response from the Fire Service, who swiftly arrived at the scene. The Firefighters battled courageously to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Louis Owusu-Agyepong, together with NADMO and the Police were at scene and assured the affected store owners that investigations will be conducted to ascertain. He also reiterated that efforts will also be made to provide assistance and support to the affected businesses, helping them recover from the financial losses incurred.
In the aftermath of this unfortunate incident, the Sefwi Dwinase community is rallying together to offer solace to those affected by the fire.
