The Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has engaged butchers operating within the at Sefwi Dwenase on plans to relocate their activities to the already existing slaughterhouse at Dwenase.

The engagement formed part of the Assembly’s efforts to improve hygiene, ensure food safety, and streamline meat processing in line with public health standards.

Addressing the butchers, Hon. Gyasi explained that the move was necessary to provide a more organized and sanitary environment for meat processing, which would benefit not only the butchers but also the general public. He noted that the current practice of scattered operations poses health risks and does not reflect the Assembly’s vision for modernized service delivery.

The MCE assured the butchers that the Assembly is committed to supporting them through the transition process and will work closely with them to address any concerns that may arise. He further encouraged cooperation, stressing that the relocation will enhance their operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

The butchers, on their part, expressed appreciation for the engagement and appealed for adequate facilities and logistical support at the Dwenase slaughterhouse to enable smooth operations after the relocation.

Hon. Gyasi emphasized that continuous dialogue between the Assembly and stakeholders will be maintained to ensure a successful relocation exercise that benefits the entire municipality.
