The Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has met with market men and women at the Sefwi Dwinase Market to discuss the modalities for allocating the newly constructed market sheds.
Addressing the traders, the MCE noted that some of the spaces currently occupied may not be the rightful or permanent places for certain traders. He therefore emphasized that once the allocation process is completed, each trader is expected to occupy his or her rightful place in the market.
“These sheds have been built with you, the existing market men and women in mind. The allocation process will be fair, and when completed, every trader will be moved to their rightful place. If you have any doubts, know that the Assembly is committed to transparency and you will be part of the process,” Hon. Gyasi assured.
The traders welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for the improved facilities, though some voiced concerns about possible favoritism in allocation. In response, Hon. Gyasi reiterated that the Assembly has no intention of displacing genuine traders and that the exercise is aimed at ensuring order, fairness, and sustainability.
The newly built market sheds at Sefwi Dwinase form part of the Assembly’s broader agenda to modernize trading infrastructure across the Municipality, enhance revenue generation, and improve the overall business environment for local commerce.
