The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has held a community engagement with the Chiefs, elders, and residents of Sefwi Boako to discuss modalities for relocating traders to the newly constructed market. The meeting was held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Boako Palace.

The engagement brought together Nananom, Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, the market queen, and community members. Introducing the Assembly delegation, Development Planning Officer, Mr. Isaac Kwabena Antwi, outlined the purpose of the meeting, stressing the importance of community input in the relocation process.

Hon. Gyasi told stakeholders that the relocation exercise cannot succeed without the active involvement of Nananom and community members. He noted that the move was necessary to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of traders and buyers.

In his remarks, Nana Kwasi Mintah, Chief of Sefwi Boako, expressed appreciation to the Assembly for engaging the community but called for an expansion of the new market to accommodate all traders before the relocation takes place. He also appealed for electricity to be extended to the market to improve safety and security.

Responding to these concerns, Hon. Gyasi assured the gathering that the Assembly had already engaged the Wiawso Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) office, and inspection works had been carried out. He confirmed that street lights would soon be installed at the market site. He further pledged that the market would be expanded to accommodate all traders before relocation begins.

Following the discussions, Hon. Gyasi, together with Nananom and community members, inspected the new market. An eleven-member Market Development Committee was also inaugurated to oversee the expansion works and the relocation process.

The Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Christian Nkuah, used the opportunity to urge community members and zonal council leaders to intensify revenue mobilization efforts to support development initiatives in the Municipality.

The engagement was described as fruitful and participatory, as it provided a platform for stakeholders to raise critical issues, share ideas, and contribute to the development of the Boako township.
