SEFWI WIAWSO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY COMMEMORATES “MY FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL”

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly, on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, commemorated “My First Day at School” to officially usher pupils, particularly new entrants, into the 2026/2027 academic year in the Municipality.
The event was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful (MP), officials from the Municipal Education Directorate, the Regional Director of Education, Nananom, teachers, parents, pupils and other dignitaries.
The exercise commenced with visits to schools in Domeabra and continued through to Asawinso, where a grand durbar was held to climax the activities.
The occasion provided a platform for education stakeholders to interact with pupils and teachers while encouraging parents and guardians to take an active interest in the education of their children.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Dominic Gyasi encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously, remain disciplined and make good use of the opportunities provided through education. He also called on teachers to continue giving of their best in nurturing and shaping the future generation. He further mentioned that the Government is doing its best to make education more accessible, affordable and of good quality for every Ghanaian child through various interventions and initiatives in the education sector.
Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful also stressed the importance of education and called on parents, guardians and teachers to provide the necessary guidance, care and support to the pupils, particularly the new entrants, as they begin their educational journey. He encouraged the pupils to develop good habits and enthusiasm for learning from an early age.
The Regional Director of Education and the Municipal Director of Education also welcomed the pupils into the 2026/2027 academic year and expressed their commitment to promoting quality education within the Municipality in collaboration with the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly.
The grand durbar at Asawinso brought the exercise to a successful climax, with stakeholders expressing their collective commitment to creating a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning throughout the Municipality.
