The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly (SWMA), in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), has introduced coding clubs in schools across the Municipality. This initiative aims to equip students with essential digital skills and prepare them for careers in technology and innovation.

The formation of these clubs aligns with the government’s digital transformation agenda, which seeks to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and bridge the digital divide among students. The program will provide young learners with hands-on experience in computer programming, software development, and robotics, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.

GIFEC, a key partner in the initiative, is providing technical support, resources, and training to ensure the successful implementation of the program. The initiative is expected to expose students to artificial intelligence (AI), mobile app development, and other emerging technologies.

Educators and parents have welcomed the program, noting that it will expand career opportunities for students and position them competitively in the global job market. SWMA and GIFEC plan to work closely with ICT professionals, schools, and industry stakeholders to enhance the learning experience and sustain the clubs in the long term.

This initiative marks a major milestone in digital education for Sefwi Wiawso, setting the stage for a tech-savvy generation ready to harness the opportunities of the digital age.
