SWMA HOLDS NATIONAL SANITATION DAY EXERCISE AT ASAFO ZONAL COUNCIL
The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly on Saturday 26th September, 2026 held its monthly National Sanitation Day exercise at the Asafo Zonal Council, with traditional authorities, students and residents joining the Assembly to promote sanitation and environmental cleanliness.
The exercise was attended by the Chief of Asafo, Nananom, staff of the Municipal Assembly, students of the Asafo Nursing Training College, residents and other community stakeholders.
Participants undertook a general clean-up exercise within the Asafo community, including the clearing of drains, removal of refuse and cleaning of public spaces.
The involvement of the traditional authorities, students and community members demonstrated the importance of collective efforts in maintaining clean and healthy communities.
The monthly National Sanitation Day exercise is a nationwide sanitation initiative of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, improving public health and encouraging collective responsibility for sanitation.
The Assembly continues to call on individuals, institutions, traditional authorities and communities to actively participate in the monthly sanitation exercises and adopt proper waste management practices to help sustain a clean and healthy environment across the Municipality.
