The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly (SWMA) Ladies Association, in collaboration with a team of health professionals, has organised a breast cancer screening exercise purposely for the staff of the Municipal Assembly. The initiative aimed to promote early detection and raise awareness of breast cancer among female employees.

The event, which was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), provided staff with the opportunity to receive education on breast health, self-examination, and preventive care before undergoing the screening.

Health professionals from the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital led the session, stressing the importance of regular screening as a key step in early diagnosis and successful treatment. Participants expressed appreciation to the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly Ladies Association for championing a cause that supports staff wellbeing and women’s health.

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive commended the association for their proactive efforts and encouraged staff to make health checks a regular part of their routine. Mr. Fred B. Kpodo, the Municipal Chief Executive also lauded the initiative, describing it as a practical demonstration of care and teamwork within the Assembly.

The exercise formed part of activities to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month and reinforced the Assembly’s commitment to promoting staff health and productivity.
