The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, on Wednesday, 11th June 2025, conducted an inspection of the Asawinso Market ahead of its planned upgrade into an ultra-modern trading facility. The visit marks a significant step toward the long-anticipated transformation of the market, which serves as one of the key economic hubs in the Municipality.

The upgraded facility is expected to include improved infrastructure, enhanced sanitation systems, and modern amenities designed to significantly enhance the trading experience for both vendors and patrons.

According to Hon. Gyasi, the redevelopment is strategically aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy. Once completed, the modernized market will support round-the-clock commercial activity, thereby boosting local economic development and creating employment opportunities.

“This project is not just about infrastructure; it is about unlocking the full economic potential of Asawinso and its surrounding communities,” the MCE stated. “With modern lighting, security, and facilities that support 24-hour trading, this market will directly contribute to the President’s vision of a vibrant, all-day economy.”

The redevelopment is expected to commence in the coming months, with local stakeholders expressing strong support to ensure its smooth and timely implementation.
