The 2025 Cocoa City Experience continued in grand style as Sefwi Kessekrom hosted a vibrant and culturally rich celebration of the Bomtro Festival, one of the most revered traditional events in the Sefwi area. The festival formed an integral part of the week-long Cocoa City Experience, which seeks to promote the cultural heritage, tourism appeal, and economic potential of the Municipality.
The event drew a massive crowd including chiefs, queen mothers, government officials, youth groups, cultural troupes, and visitors from across the region. The festival grounds came alive with traditional music, drumming, dancing, and beautifully adorned chiefs and elders showcasing the full splendour of Sefwi customs.
A significant highlight of the celebration was the Food Bazaar, where a wide variety of local delicacies and cocoa-based dishes were displayed. Attendees had the chance to taste traditional Sefwi meals, snacks, beverages, and creatively prepared cocoa-infused foods. Vendors expressed appreciation for the platform, noting that the bazaar not only promoted local cuisine but also boosted small businesses and encouraged culinary innovation.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, commended the people of Kessekrom for preserving their cultural heritage and for contributing actively to the Cocoa City Experience. He highlighted the importance of integrating cultural festivals like Bomtro into tourism development, stating that such events attract visitors, promote unity, and support local economic growth. He further encouraged residents to continue safeguarding their traditions while embracing new opportunities in tourism and creative arts.
Residents expressed joy and pride over the successful event, describing it as a beautiful display of unity, tradition, and creativity. Many applauded the organisers for involving young people, ensuring that Sefwi culture continues to thrive across generations.
The celebration ended with renewed excitement and strong community support for the remaining activities lined up for the Cocoa City Experience.
