The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has cut the sod for the construction of a new CHPS compound at Kojina–Essakrom, signaling a major boost to healthcare access in the community.

For many years, residents of Kojina–Essakrom have had to travel to Asawinso to access medical care, a situation that often posed serious challenges, especially for pregnant women, children, and the elderly. The absence of a health facility within the community has also made emergency healthcare difficult, with long travel distances increasing health risks.

Addressing residents at the ceremony, Hon. Gyasi emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to bridging healthcare gaps and improving quality of life in underserved communities. He noted that the new CHPS compound will bring essential services closer to the people and greatly reduce the burden of traveling long distances for treatment.

Community leaders and residents expressed deep appreciation to the MCE and the Assembly for responding to their long-standing plea. They described the project as a timely intervention that will significantly enhance the wellbeing and safety of the community.

Construction of the CHPS compound is expected to commence immediately, forming part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery across the municipality.
