The Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has donated GH₵5,000 to support teachers of Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School who were recently involved in a road accident.
The unfortunate incident occurred when the teachers were returning from a funeral of a bereaved colleague. Several of them sustained injuries and required medical treatment, placing an unexpected financial burden on the victims and their families.
Touched by their plight, Hon. Gyasi, who himself is a former teacher, extended the financial support to help offset part of their hospital bills. He described teachers as pillars of society whose sacrifices must be recognized and supported, particularly in times of distress.
“As someone who has been a teacher before, I understand the struggles and sacrifices teachers go through every day. It is only fair that when they face unfortunate situations like this, we as leaders step in to support them. This donation is my small contribution to ease their burden and to assure them that they are not alone,” the MCE stated.
He further encouraged the affected teachers to remain strong, assuring them of the Assembly’s readiness to support the education sector in diverse ways.
The gesture was warmly received by the school’s management who commended Hon. Gyasi for showing genuine concern for the welfare of teachers. They noted that such acts of kindness not only provide immediate relief but also inspire confidence among education workers that their contributions to society are valued.
Some of the injured teachers, visibly touched by the donation, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MCE for coming to their aid in a difficult time.
This intervention adds to Hon. Gyasi’s broader commitment to promoting education and supporting the welfare of both students and teachers in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality.
