As part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance public service delivery and ensure quality healthcare for all, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Dominic Gyasi, held a strategic engagement with the Municipal Health Directorate. The high-level meeting, held at the Health Directorate Conference Room, brought together key stakeholders in the health sector to deliberate on pressing challenges, review current health initiatives, and chart a course toward improved healthcare access and outcomes within the Municipality.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Gyasi emphasized the critical role of the health sector in national development and community well-being. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of healthcare professionals across the Municipality, especially in the face of resource constraints and the growing demand for medical services.

“Health is not just a priority; it is the foundation of all our development efforts,” he stated. “We must work hand-in-hand to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to accessing quality medical care.”

Leading the health team, the Municipal Health Director, Dr. Takyi, expressed appreciation for the Assembly's continued support and commended Hon. Gyasi for his proactive leadership. He highlighted several urgent issues confronting the health directorate, including inadequate staffing at the Government Hospital and CHPS compounds, the abandonment of the maternity block at the Government Hospital and insufficient medical equipment. Dr. Takyi also advocated for upgrading the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital to regional status to better serve the area’s growing healthcare needs.

He welcomed the opportunity for regular dialogue and joint planning with the Assembly, emphasizing that such collaboration would lead to more targeted and effective health interventions.

In response, Hon. Gyasi reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the challenges through a collaborative and strategic approach. He pledged to work closely with the Health Directorate to implement sustainable solutions.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all parties to strengthen coordination, enhance service delivery, and prioritize the health needs of residents municipality and beyond.

This engagement forms part of Hon. Gyasi’s broader governance agenda, which prioritizes transparency, stakeholder involvement, and inclusive development.
