The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, on Wednesday 30th April, 2024 undertook an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP) within the Municipality.

These projects, financed through the Urban Development Grant (UDG), are part of a broader national initiative aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure, promoting local economic development, and improving the quality of life in Ghana's secondary cities.

During the inspection, Hon. Gyasi visited key project sites, including the Boako and Dwenase markets, as well as the artificial astroturf under construction at Wiawso. His visit aimed to assess the level of progress and ensure that construction activities were being executed in line with approved plans and timelines. The tour also provided an opportunity for him to engage directly with contractors, project consultants, and municipal technical staff to address challenges hindering the timely completion of the projects.

While acknowledging the importance and potential impact of the projects on the municipality’s development, Hon. Gyasi expressed concern over delays in project execution. He noted that some contractors were behind schedule and urged them to expedite work while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

“I am not satisfied with the pace of work on some of these projects,” Hon. Gyasi stated. “Contractors must take their responsibilities seriously. These are initiatives meant to benefit our people, and we cannot afford unnecessary delays or substandard work.”

He further emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to strengthening local governance and infrastructure through strategic investments in urban development. He assured stakeholders during the site meeting  that his administration would continue to monitor the progress of all ongoing projects to ensure they are completed efficiently and sustainably.
