The Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has spearheaded the installation of new streetlights and the replacement of faulty bulbs in selected areas within Sefwi Wiawso and Asawinso SHS as part of efforts to improve security and enhance night-time activities in the Municipality.

The intervention follows concerns raised by residents and business operators about poorly lit streets, which created security challenges and inconveniences for pedestrians and motorists alike.

According to Hon. Gyasi, the streetlight project forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to ensuring safer communities and supporting local economic growth. He emphasized that well-lit streets not only improve security but also encourage commercial activity after dark, boost confidence among residents, and help curb criminal activities.

“Our residents deserve to feel safe moving about at night, and our traders should have the confidence to do business even after sunset. Fixing faulty bulbs and installing new ones is a small but very important step toward improving security and promoting vibrant night-time activity in Sefwi Wiawso and Asawinso,” the MCE stated.

He assured the public that the Assembly will continue to monitor the situation and replace faulty streetlights as needed. He also called on residents to take ownership of the initiative by safeguarding the installations against vandalism and reporting faults promptly.

Residents and business owners in the affected areas expressed gratitude for the swift intervention, noting that the brighter streets will go a long way to reduce incidents of crime, improve road safety, and create a more welcoming environment for social and economic activities.
