HON. DOMINIC GYASI JOINS DEPUTY FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER AND WESTERN NORTH REGIONAL MINISTER TO COMMISSION PASSPORT OFFICE IN SEFWI WIAWSO

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, which serves as the Regional Capital of the Western North Region, has marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the first-ever Passport Office in the Region, a facility that will serve residents across the entire Western North Region.


The historic ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, the Chief Director for Western North RCC, Mr. Joseph K. Baah-Darkoh, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, as well as Municipal and District Chief Executives from sister districts within the Region. Traditional Authorities, Heads of Departments, security agencies, civil society organisations, and members of the public were also present.


The Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, stated the purpose of the gathering and commended the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Passport Office, the Regional Coordinating Council, and other stakeholders, stressing that the facility will enhance regional development and improve access to international travel opportunities.


The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson stated, that the establishment of the Passport Office aligns with government’s commitment to decentralisation and improved public service delivery. He assured residents of efficient, transparent, and professional passport services.


In an interview with Hon. Dominic Gyasi, he highlighted the importance of locating the Passport Office in Sefwi Wiawso, noting that as the Regional Capital, the Municipality is strategically positioned to host key Regional Institutions and services. He explained that the facility will greatly reduce the burden on residents who previously travelled to other Regions to process passports, thereby saving time and cost.


The event concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour of the facility, officially opening the Passport Office to serve the people of the Western North Region.
