The Municipal Chief Executive for the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, led a team of officials from the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly to embark on the demarcation of a temporary market space for traders at the Asawinso Market.
The exercise was carried out to pave way for the construction of the proposed 24-hour economy market project at the existing market area. The temporary market space is expected to provide a safe, organized, and convenient environment for traders to continue their business activities during the construction period.
Hon. Dominic Gyasi, together with Assembly officials, market leaders, and other stakeholders, supervised the exercise to ensure proper allocation of trading spaces and maintain orderliness at the site. He encouraged traders to cooperate with the Assembly and support the initiative for the successful execution of the project.
Some traders expressed appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly for the intervention, noting that the temporary arrangements would help sustain their businesses while work progresses on the new market facility.
The proposed 24-hour economy market project is expected to enhance commercial activities, improve market infrastructure, and create a better trading environment for residents and traders within the Municipality.
