Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful (MP) joined Hon. Dominic Gyasi, Municipal Chief Executive of Sefwi Wiawso, and community members to commemorate National Sanitation Day, with a special focus on the Dwainase Market, one of the busiest commercial hubs in the Municipality.
The initiative is part of the President of Ghana’s directive to observe Sanitation Day on the first Saturday of every month, aimed at promoting hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and public health across the country.
The event brought together residents, Assembly staff, youth groups, students, market women, traders, and local leaders to participate in a comprehensive clean-up exercise aimed at promoting hygiene and environmental sustainability in the market and surrounding streets.
In his remarks, Hon. Dominic Gyasi urged all residents and students to adopt daily sanitation practices, emphasizing that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility critical to public health.
Hon. Benteh Afful also echoed the call, pledging his support for ongoing initiatives to improve waste management, public health, and environmental sanitation in the municipality.
The participation of students highlighted the Assembly’s commitment to educating the younger generation on hygiene and community responsibility, while fostering a culture of cleanliness across all sectors of the municipality.
The National Sanitation Day activities concluded with a renewed pledge from both the Assembly and residents, including students, to make cleanliness a priority in all public spaces throughout Sefwi Wiawso.
