In a bid to ensure inclusive and participatory governance, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has engaged with the Nananom, Assembly Members, Economic/Youth groups, CSOs, FBOs, and NGOs within the Asawinso Zonal Council as part of preparations for the Municipality’s 2026–2029 Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP).

The engagement, held on Monday 12th May, 2025, at Asawinso formed part of a broader consultative process spearheaded by the Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit (MPCU), aimed at gathering views and suggestions from various communities within the Municipality. This bottom-up approach is intended to incorporate local development priorities into the final MTDP.

In his address, Hon. Dominic Gyasi emphasized the importance of community participation in local governance, stating, “We cannot prepare a meaningful development plan without listening to the people whose lives the plan will affect. Your insights, needs, and ideas are the building blocks of our development agenda.”

During the meeting, participants were given the opportunity to voice their concerns and propose development interventions that reflect the pressing needs of the area.

Representatives from the MPCU were present to facilitate the discussion and record inputs, ensuring that all feedback would be factored into the planning framework. The exercise also served to educate the community on the structure and purpose of the Medium Term Development Plan, which serves as a roadmap for Municipal development over a five-year period.

The engagement in Asawinso marks one of several planned community consultations across the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality. According to the MCE, the Assembly remains committed to a transparent and inclusive process that aligns with the decentralization policy and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) guidelines.

As the preparation of the 2026–2029 MTDP gains momentum, the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly assures residents that their voices will continue to shape the policies and projects that aim to transform the Municipality over the next five years.
