The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, has officially signed the contract and handed over the project site for the construction of a 24-hour economy market at Sefwi Asawinso in the Municipality.
The contract signing ceremony was held at the Regional Coordinating Council in the presence of the Regional Minister. Following the signing, the Municipal Chief Executive, together with his team, proceeded to Asawinso where the site was formally handed over to the contractor for the commencement of work.
The 24-hour economy market initiative is a flagship intervention of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, aimed at promoting round-the-clock economic activity. The initiative seeks to establish modern market facilities across all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country to enhance trade, create employment, and stimulate local economic growth.
The project forms part of efforts to boost local economic activities and improve trading infrastructure within the area. The proposed market is expected to provide a conducive environment for traders, enhance business operations, and create employment opportunities for residents.
In his remarks, Hon. Gyasi emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to supporting government initiatives and promoting economic growth through strategic infrastructure development. He urged the contractor to execute the project within the stipulated timeframe and in accordance with the required standards.
The project is anticipated to significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of Sefwi Asawinso and its surrounding communities.
