OFFICIALS FROM GHANA ANTI-CORRUPTION COALITION CALL ON HON. DOMINIC GYASI

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, on Monday, 15th September received officials from the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) and their local partners, the Local Accountability Network (LANet), during a courtesy call at his office.

The coalition, which works to promote inclusiveness in local governance and fight corruption, paid the visit to formally introduce themselves to the MCE and to follow up on key governance and accountability issues within the municipality. Their discussions centered particularly on the disbursement and utilization of the Mineral Development Fund (MDF) and the implementation of audit recommendations at the local level.

Hon. Gyasi welcomed the officials and commended them for their continuous efforts to strengthen transparency and accountability in governance. He emphasized the importance of collaborations between civil society groups and government institutions, noting that such partnerships help improve service delivery and public trust.

“Accountability and transparency are principles this administration holds dearly. I appreciate the role of GACC and LANet in monitoring and ensuring that public resources are properly utilized. Your work helps us as leaders to stay responsive to the people we serve,” the MCE said.

However, Hon. Gyasi also advised that the coalition broaden its focus beyond the Mineral Development Fund. He recommended that they also monitor the utilization of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), stressing that this would give a more holistic view of resource use and service delivery.

The GACC and LANet representatives assured the MCE of their continued commitment to supporting local governance through advocacy, monitoring, and capacity building. They expressed readiness to work closely with the Assembly to promote best practices in resource management and accountability.
