SEFWI WIAWSO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY CELEBRATES 68TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 6th March, 2025, marked Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary with a vibrant celebration under the theme “Reflect, Review, Reset.” The event, held at Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School, veered from the traditional march-pass and instead featured a debate and quiz competition designed to engage students in intellectual discourse and critical thinking on National development.

The occasion commenced with an address by Mr. Abraham Fletcher (Municipal Education Director), who outlined the purpose of the gathering. Mr. Fred B. Kpodo, the Municipal Coordinating Director, delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the significance of the theme and encouraging students to embrace the spirit of reflection and progress.

The event was graced by the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful, who applauded the President’s initiative to reduce the high costs associated with organizing such events. He advised students to take their studies seriously and promised to provide tablets to students from the Municipality who received the President’s Independence Day Award for their exceptional performance in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The celebration also featured cultural performances, adding a rich display of Ghanaian heritage and traditions to the event.
