The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has officially commenced the use of drone technology as part of its efforts to prepare comprehensive local plans across the Municipality.

This innovative initiative marks a significant step forward in enhancing spatial planning and land management in the Municipality. The aerial drones will be used to capture high-resolution images and data, which will aid in the development of accurate and up-to-date planning schemes for various communities within the Municipality.

According to officials from the Assembly, the drone mapping exercise will ensure efficiency in land use planning, support infrastructure development, and promote orderly physical development. The initiative is also expected to facilitate better decision-making, especially in rapidly developing areas.

Some community members, upon observing this initiative by the Assembly, expressed their appreciation and commended the Municipal Chief Executive for embracing modern technology as a tool for local development. They acknowledged that the use of drone technology demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to governance and planning. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance decision-making processes, particularly in rapidly developing areas where accurate and up-to-date spatial data is crucial for effective land use planning, infrastructure development, and service delivery.

The drone flights are being conducted in line with national regulations and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including traditional authorities and landowners, to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
