The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, has successfully completed the disbursement of grants under the 97th cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
The payment exercise commenced on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, and ended on Thursday, August 21, 2025. During this period, beneficiary households across 29 communities within the municipality received their payments directly. In addition, beneficiaries from 9 other communities accessed their grants through designated financial institutions, ensuring inclusive and convenient service delivery.
A key feature of the 97th cycle was the upward adjustment of LEAP grants, introduced to provide greater financial relief to vulnerable households. The revised payment structure is as follows:
One eligible member household: GHC 384.00 (previously GHC 320.00)
Two eligible member household: GHC 456.00 (previously GHC 380.00)
Three eligible member household: GHC 528.00 (previously GHC 440.00)
Four eligible member household: GHC 636.00 (previously GHC 530.00)
This increase is part of a broader national effort to strengthen social protection systems and improve the living conditions of low-income families. By enhancing LEAP support, the Assembly reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that the most vulnerable residents receive meaningful assistance to meet their basic needs.
The LEAP programme continues to serve as a vital tool in the municipality’s strategy to combat poverty, promote social inclusion, and improve livelihoods.
