The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has successfully completed the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) enrolment exercise in 40 communities across the Municipality.
The exercise targeted 746 households, out of which 667 were successfully enrolled. Beneficiaries were linked to their designated Payment Financial Institution, Access Bank Ghana PLC, and issued e-zwich cards to facilitate the secure and efficient disbursement of LEAP cash grants. Sensitization sessions were also conducted to educate beneficiaries on the use of the e-zwich platform and the importance of protecting their personal identification details.
The successful enrolment exercise forms part of the Government of Ghana’s commitment to providing social protection support to extremely poor and vulnerable households. Through the LEAP programme, beneficiaries receive financial assistance aimed at improving their living conditions, access to basic services, and overall well-being.
The Municipal Assembly, through the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, worked closely with community leaders and stakeholders to ensure a smooth and transparent enrolment process. Their collaboration contributed significantly to the successful registration and validation of eligible households across the Municipality.
