SEFWI WIAWSO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HOLDS FIRST ORDINARY MEETING OF THE SECOND SESSION OF THE NINTH ASSEMBLY

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly held its First Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Assembly on Monday, 7th July 2025, at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The meeting brought together Honourable Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, and key stakeholders to deliberate on key developmental and administrative matters affecting the Municipality.


The meeting officially commenced with opening remarks by the Presiding Member, Hon. Evans Ackaah, who warmly welcomed members and stressed on the importance of collaboration and active participation in decision-making processes. He expressed appreciation for the commitment shown by members and urged them to continue prioritizing the development of the Municipality.


The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, took the floor to present his comprehensive sessional address. In his speech, he outlined the key developmental achievements over the past months, ongoing projects, and priority areas for the coming quarters. His address touched on infrastructure, education, health, sanitation, and youth empowerment initiatives. The sessional address was subsequently opened for discussion and adoption by the House.


A goodwill message was also delivered by the Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Hon. Kofi Benteh, who, as an ex-officio member of the Assembly, graced the occasion with his presence. He commended the Assembly for its commitment to progress and highlighted several parliamentary and government-backed initiatives that align with the Municipality’s development agenda. He encouraged stronger collaboration between the Assembly and his office for effective policy implementation.


The Presiding Member later presented recommendations from the Executive Committee for discussion and adoption. These recommendations, aimed at improving governance and service delivery within the Municipality, were carefully deliberated and approved by members for implementation.


Additionally, the Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Christian Nkuah, presented the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review. His presentation provided insights into the financial performance of the Assembly for the first half of the year and adjustments necessary to meet development targets. The House thoroughly discussed and subsequently approved the budget review.

During the open floor session, members were given the opportunity to raise and discuss other pertinent issues affecting their electoral areas and the Municipality at large.


The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment among members to work collectively towards the socio-economic advancement of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality.
