The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly (SWMA) successfully organized its 39th Farmers' Day celebration, honoring the immense contributions of farmers to the Municipality's food security and economic development. The event, held under the theme, " Delivering Smart Solution for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience.," was a grand affair, bringing together Farmers, Government Officials, Security Personnel, Traditional Leaders (Nananom), and Community Members to recognize and celebrate the agricultural sector's vital role in the Municipal’s prosperity.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Honorable Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Louis Owusu-Agyepong, who delivered a stirring keynote address highlighting the government's commitment to supporting and empowering farmers.
A highlight of the celebration was the presentation of awards to outstanding farmers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovation, and productivity in their agricultural endeavors. The awards, ranging from Tricycle, Motor Bike and farming tools, served as a token of appreciation for the farmers' invaluable contributions to the Municipality's economic well-being.
Mr. Yohane Akpablih from Mile 3, a suburb in Sefwi Wiawso, was crowned the overall best farmer. He was presented with a Tricycle generously donated by Chirano Goldmines Ltd, along with essential farm tools and assorted items. The second-best farmer was also recognized and awarded a Motor-Bike donated by John Bitar Company Ltd, in addition to farm tools and assorted items.
In total, fifteen outstanding farmers were awarded for their exceptional dedication, innovation, and productivity in their agricultural endeavors.
The Farmers' Day celebration also featured an agricultural exhibition showcasing the Municipality's diverse agricultural produce, from fresh fruits and vegetables to livestock’s. The exhibition provided a platform for farmers to connect with potential buyers and promote their products, fostering market linkages and expanding their business opportunities.
