The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has successfully held a two-day intensive capacity-building training workshop for its procurement officers and selected key staff on the effective use of the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS).

The training, which took place at the Municipal Assembly Hall, forms part of the Assembly's efforts to enhance transparency, efficiency, and compliance in public procurement processes. The initiative also aligns with the government's broader agenda to digitize public services and eliminate manual bottlenecks in procurement procedures.

Participants included staff of the Procurement Unit, Finance Department, and key officers from various departments and units whose roles interface with procurement activities. The workshop provided hands-on training on the end to end use of the GHANEPS platform, including supplier registration, electronic tendering, contract award processes, and post-contract performance reporting.

In his opening remarks, the Assistant HR Manager, Mr. Isaac Boateng on behalf of the Municipal Coordinating Director stressed the importance of the training in strengthening institutional capacity. He encouraged all participants to take the sessions seriously and apply the knowledge gained to improve the Assembly’s procurement operations.

The resource persons, drawn from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), took participants through practical demonstrations and real-time simulations on the GHANEPS portal. The training also included a Q&A session, where participants had the opportunity to seek clarifications and address challenges encountered in their day-to-day procurement tasks.

The Assistance Human Resource Manager, again, in a brief closing message, expressed appreciation to the facilitators and commended staff for their active participation. He noted that the successful implementation of GHANEPS at the Assembly will enhance accountability and ensure value for money in the use of public funds.
