SWMA CROWNS MR. ASAANA ANANE AS THE OVERALL BEST FARMER IN THE MUNICIPALITY

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has honoured Mr. Asaana Anane as the Overall Best Farmer for the municipality during the 41st Farmers’ Day Celebration. The prestigious recognition was conferred at a colourful ceremony held to celebrate the dedication, resilience, and immense contribution of farmers to local and national development.
The event, which drew farmers, traditional leaders, dignitaries, stakeholders, and community members, highlighted the critical role agriculture continues to play in sustaining livelihoods and boosting the local economy. The Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Kofi Benteh Afful, also graced the occasion, adding significance to the celebration with his presence and support for the farming community.
In a speech delivered by the Municipal Chief Executive, he applauded farmers across the municipality for their unwavering commitment despite challenges such as climate variability, rising input costs, and labour constraints.
Mr. Asaana Anane, who emerged as the Overall Best Farmer, was celebrated for his outstanding achievements in crop cultivation, livestock production, and his adoption of best agricultural practices. His ability to diversify his farm, maintain high productivity, and contribute to food security positioned him ahead of other nominees.
As part of his award package, he received a variety of prizes including a tricycle, farm tools, agrochemicals, protective equipment, and other valuable items aimed at supporting and expanding his farming operations. The Assembly emphasized that rewarding farmers like Mr. Anane serves as a motivation for others to emulate excellence, innovation, and sustainability in their farming activities.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Anane expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly, the Department of Agriculture, and all sponsors who made the event successful. He pledged to continue working hard to support food production and inspire other farmers within the municipality.
