As part of the government’s effort to improve agricultural productivity in the country, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), commenced the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase Two (PFJ 2.0) programme. This phase introduces input credit as its core value, however, the programme provided fertilizer and seed inputs grants to six hundred and eighty-three (683) vulnerable farmers registered on the GhAAP platform.

The grant inputs were given to vulnerable farmers to enhance their productivity and livelihoods and ultimately build their capacity to become successful smallholder or commercial farmers.

On the 10th September, 2024, the Municipal Department of Agriculture, Sefwi Wiawso commenced the distribution of the inputs to farmers registered on the GhAAP platform. The farmers received two bags of NPK (50 Kg/bag) fertilizers and a bag of seed rice (20 Kg/bag) for a one-acre farm. A total of 1,581bags of NPK fertilizers, 683 bags of Urea fertilizers, 683 bags of maize (10 kg/bag) and 400 bags of seed rice (20 Kg/bag) are expected to be distributed to farmers across the Municipality.

During the presentation of the inputs to the farmers, the handing over was officially launched by the aspiring Hon. Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Wiawso constituency, Mr. Festus Bumakama Agyapong who represented the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Louis Owusu Agyapong to hand over the items to the farmers. In his speech, he indicated that the government find it prudent to help vulnerable farmers with the grant inputs for free to improve on crop productivity. He also encouraged the registered farmers to request for the input credit system which they can pay for after harvesting the produce.

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr. Daniel K.A. Nyagorme advised the farmers to take advantage of the PFJ 2.0 programme and encouraged the farmers to register on the GhAAP platform for easy access of credit inputs.
