The Municipal AIDS Committee held its maiden meeting for the year 2022. Amongst other things discussed was;
Complain from Clients about where they take their drugs from the facility which makes them feel isolated and think they been stigmatized by the people around. In this regards, The Municipal Director of Health explained why there is a separate Unit for the PLHIV, some of his reasons were, their separate unit prevent the long awaiting clients and also well trained Staff to take care of them. He also said the CHP compounds Nurses are now trained to dispensed ARV drugs to PLHIV. The focal person also suggested the JSI in collaboration with MICDAK should organize training for the facility nurses on stigma related issues and it negative.
Also, the chief imam should help in educating their members on HIV/AIDS stigma related issues on how to protect them from contracting it.
Christian council also brought the view that if some members within churches can be trained to educate their peers on HIV/AIDS related even before the CSO visit them. Mr. Bediako Agyeman also suggested that MICDAK (CSO) should report to Municipal Health Director every month, though he have been receiving the report.
