The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has successfully inaugurated all Zonal Councils within the Municipality as part of efforts to strengthen local governance and decentralization.
The inauguration ceremony, which brought together newly appointed Zonal Council members, traditional authorities, and Municipal officials, aimed to empower local structures to facilitate grassroots development and improve service delivery.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Fred B. Kpodo emphasized the importance of Zonal Councils in local governance, stating, “These councils play a vital role in bridging the gap between the Assembly and the communities. They will help in mobilizing resources, enforcing by-laws, and addressing local challenges effectively.”
The newly inaugurated Zonal Councils will be responsible for community development planning, revenue collection, monitoring of projects, and resolving local disputes to promote socio-economic growth in their respective areas.
Council members were urged to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and a commitment to improving the lives of residents. The Assembly assured them of continuous support and capacity-building programs to enhance their effectiveness in governance.
Residents and stakeholders expressed optimism that the inauguration of the Zonal Councils would bring governance closer to the people and foster inclusive development across the Municipality.
