SWMA KICK-STARTS COCOA CITY EXPERIENCE WITH FLOAT AND HEALTH SCREENING

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly has officially kicked off activities for the highly anticipated Cocoa City Experience with a colourful float and a free community health screening exercise. The event marked the beginning of a week-long celebration aimed at showcasing the rich cocoa heritage, culture, and economic significance of Sefwi Wiawso proudly known as the “Cocoa City of Ghana.”

The float, which moved through major streets of Sefwi Wiawso -Dwenase, saw massive participation from staff of the Municipal Assembly, students, cocoa farmers, youth groups, cultural troupes, and community members. The vibrant procession helped create public awareness and excitement ahead of the main festival activities.

As part of the opening activities, the Assembly organized a comprehensive health screening for residents. The exercise aimed at promoting community health and ensuring that residents are in good physical condition to actively participate in the celebration.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Dominic Gyasi (MCE) emphasized that the Cocoa City Experience is not just a festival, but a strategic initiative to boost tourism, promote local businesses, and celebrate the hardworking cocoa farmers who contribute significantly to Ghana’s economy. He noted that beginning the festival with a float and health screening reflects the Assembly’s commitment to both cultural celebration and the well-being of its people.

Residents expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly for starting the festival with activities that bring together fun, public engagement, and healthcare support. The float and health screening have set a positive tone for the days ahead, as the Municipality prepares for exhibitions, performances, tours, and other major highlights of the Cocoa City Experience.
