As enshrined in Regulation 17(3) of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019, L.I 2378, and paragraph 105 of the 2023-2026 Budget Preparation Guidelines Hearings were being organized for all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) concurrently in all the 16 Regions from 24th October to 4th November, 2022
The hearing was to offer the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) with support from the National Technical working team the opportunity to jointly review the MMDAs revenue and expenditure performance for 2022 and the targets set for 2023-2026. It is to further ensure that the budget allocations reflect the objectives and strategies of government policies and are also in line with the 2023-2026 Budget Preparation guidelines issued by the Ministry of Finance.
In view of that, the Western North Regional Coordinating Council (WNRCC) in line with the above directive organized its Regional Hearing on the 2023-2026 Composite Budget for all its nine (9) Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region on Thursday 27th October, 2022 to 28th October 2022 at the Western North Regional Coordinating Council (WNRCC) main Conference Auditorium.
Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly was however, presented its Draft 2023-2026 Composite Budget to the Regional Team and the Officers from Ministry of Finance on 28th October, 2022
The Draft 2023-2026 Composite Budget was presented by the Municipal Budget Analyst Mr. Christian Nkuah, on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive. He began by briefly explaining the Municipal profile; The Municipal’s performance in terms of Agriculture, Education, Tourism, infrastructure, health, and transportation, among other things.
Municipal Budget Analyst went into detail on the Municipal’s financial performance, including revenue and expenditure by departments. As part of the performance, he presented information on some key achievements of the 2023 budget.
He also highlighted the support to government flagship programmes such as Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), One District One Factory (1D1F), PERD among others.
